Get ready for this amazing adventure as we cruise in and out of Athens, sailing the Northern Cyclades Greek Isles in the beautiful Aegean Sea including gems such as Mykonos. We will depart Athens and return one week later, with time at sea, a spectacular morning sail through the Samos Strait, and stops in Kusadasi, Turkey and Patmos, Amorgos, the aforementioned Mykonos and Spetses, Greece.
We will again be sailing on the Star Clippers cruise line, with this particular venue aboard the Star Flyer, a 4 masted sailing vessel. The passenger capacity is only 170, and with just about a 1:1 crew to voyager ratio, attention to detail is not spared.
The Star Flyer is as fleet as the wind and as graceful as swans. It is a true clipper ship, reflecting proud heritage in every inch of its polished brass and gleaming brightwork. Step aboard this unique vessel and discover a new age of sail, where the traditions of the past are happily married to the comforts and amenities of the present day. Star Flyer is a modern cruise ship in every way, created for luxury loving passengers who also love the traditions and romance of the legendary era of sailing ships.
Star Flyer is 360 feet long and carries only 170 guests in pampered comfort.

Greek Isles cruise.
We will have one day of CE, 6 hours in Athens before setting sail. The remaining CE will be on board the ship. There will be a total of 12 hours of COPE accredited CE provided on this trip. The CE in clinically relevant, covers topics germane to today’s comprehensive ophthalmic care provider, and is provided by several experts in their respective areas of medical eye care.
All of our CME is COPE accredited, co-sponsored by the Illinois College of Optometry and approved for Florida re-licensure by CE Broker.
The continuing education will be provided both on land in Athens and while on board. The CE will never interfere with excursions and ports of call, so you’ll have plenty of free time to explore each of our stops along the way.
You may consider arriving in Greece a few days before the cruise so that you can explore Athens, and you may even consider extending your time in Athens post-cruise!
Additional information will be forthcoming in the very near future to provide more specifics about the pre-cruise host location and accommodations. Make sure to check back often.
To help you with your planning, we will again be using our outstanding European specialty travel agent, Denise Marinucci-Nicholson. Denise’s experience in helping you put together a special itinerary tailored to exactly your goals and preference is beyond outstanding. She will guide you through the process. THE REGISTRATION RATE INCLUDES
REGISTER EARLY! Our previous venues through the Greek Isles with this same cruise line were a tremendous success, and this venue also will be very popular. Since we are on a cruise ship, once the ship fills, registration for this meeting will be cut off. And this venue will fill! So, I’d suggest registering for this venue and reserving your cabin as soon as possible.
I would suggest arriving in Greece a few days before the cruise so that you can explore Athens, and perhaps stay a few days after the cruise is completed in Venice.
One of the questions often asked for this venue is if your non-OD friends and family can join you on the cruise, and the answer is a resounding YES! Of course, they can! CE in Italy/Europe’s goal is to provide outstanding clinical education in outstanding environments. And our belief is that a relaxed learning environment is conducive to actually taking clinical information back home with you. A big part of that is having fun at the venue, which often includes family and friends.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE HOST HOTEL AND PRE and POST ACCOMMODATIONS WILL BE FORTHCOMING SHORTLY
Life aboard the Star Flyer is blissfully relaxed, much like traveling on a private yacht. You'll never fell confined on the Star Flyer. The ship offers spacious accommodations and expansive teak decks with ample space and not one but two swimming pools! In fact, you'll find that this ship offers more outdoor space per passenger than most conventional cruise ships.
The decor of the Star Flyer is reminiscent of the grand age of sail. Antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships please the eye, while teak and gleaming mahogany rails are richly reminiscent of its proud nautical heritage. All Star Clippers ships offer open seating dining in an elegantly appointed dining room, our convivial indoor-outdoor Tropical Bar and Piano Bar and an Edwardian style library where a Belle Epoque fireplace glows with the warmth that reflects the friendliness and enthusiasm of Star Clippers' hospitable officers and crew.
