Taormina Sicily
November 5-7, 2027

Taormina is one of Sicily’s most enchanting hilltop towns—a place where dramatic scenery, ancient history, and effortless Italian glamour all meet. Perched high on Monte Tauro with sweeping views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, it has been a coveted destination since antiquity, first settled in the 4th century BCE and later beloved by Romans, Arabs, Normans, and modern travelers alike.
Taormina blends La Dolce Vita glamour with small‑town charm. Think bougainvillea‑draped terraces, seafood‑forward cuisine, volcanic wines from Etna, and evenings that glow with warm Sicilian light. Its compact historic center makes it easy to explore on foot, while its elevated perch gives it a sense of serenity and an amazing starting point for the exploration of Mount Etna, Alcantara Gorges, Castelmola, and Savoca, famous for The Godfather filming locations.
We expect this meeting to sell out very quickly, so please register early.
Our Host Hotel: Hotel Villa Schuler
Hotel Villa Schuler is a refined, family‑owned boutique property set within lush, terraced gardens overlooking the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, giving it one of Taormina’s most coveted panoramas.
Housed in a historic Sicilian villa, it blends classic elegance with contemporary comfort, featuring light‑filled rooms, many with balconies or terraces that open to sweeping coastal views.
The hotel’s botanical gardens create a serene, almost private‑estate atmosphere, offering quiet corners, citrus trees, and shaded pathways just steps from the lively Corso Umberto. Known for its warm, attentive service and thoughtful details, Villa Schuler delivers an intimate, elevated stay that feels both timeless and distinctly Taorminese.

November 6: CE 6:30 am to 12:30 pm
November 7: CE 6:30 am to 12:30 pm
12 hours of COPE accredited CE will be provided during our time in Edinburgh. Continuing education will begin at 6:30 am and will conclude at 12:30 pm on November 6th and November 7th, 2027.
This will leave afternoons open for exploring the area with family and friends.
Consider an afternoon visit to the Ancient Greek Theatre, or a stroll along Corso Umberto, the town’s elegant pedestrian street, lined with boutiques, cafés, and historic architecture, leading to the panoramic terrace of Piazza IX Aprile—one of the most photographed viewpoints in Sicily.
All of our CME is COPE accredited, co-sponsored by the Illinois College of Optometry and approved for ALL STATES using CE Broker.

Taormina invites you to slow down and savor its contrasts—ancient terraces, cinematic sea views, and the ever‑present silhouette of Etna. From the Greek Theatre to the curve of Isola Bella, every corner feels like a beautifully staged moment waiting to be stepped into.
Taormina really shines when you enjoy it at a relaxed pace: slip into Bam Bar for a classic granita with brioche. Wander the public gardens (Giardini della Villa Comunale) for shaded paths, sea‑view terraces, and a quiet break from Corso Umberto’s energy. Take the cable car down to Mazzarò for a beach‑club afternoon at spots like Lido La Pigna or Il Delfino or book a boat tour around the Grotta Azzurra for that luminous, glass‑blue water. For something more atmospheric, head up to Castelmola for aperitivo with panoramic views, or book a guided Etna experience that pairs crater walks with a tasting at a local Etna DOC winery.

More About Taormina
Taormina feels special because it brings together ancient history, dramatic landscapes, and a refined coastal atmosphere in a way few places can match. The Greek Theatre offers one of Italy’s most unforgettable panoramas, with Mount Etna rising behind the stage and the Ionian Sea stretching below.
Corso Umberto adds charm with its boutiques, cafés, and medieval architecture, creating a lively yet elegant town center.
Down by the water, Isola Bella and the surrounding coves deliver that quintessential Sicilian seaside experience. And throughout it all, the town’s elevated perch gives every moment—from sunrise to evening passeggiata—a cinematic quality that stays with you.
Taormina can be crowded during the height of the tourist season, and off season in early November it's still warm, and the crowds are gone. You'll experience lower off-season pricing as well. It's truly the perfect time of year to enjoy Taormina!
